The King & His Gargoyle

Dame Paris, France
February 08, 2016 by Matt Spangard

This is a detail from the façade of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. The façade is an embarrassment of riches, covered in statues and sculptures, all telling a collective story.

The aptly-named, "Gallery of Kings," sounds like it was pulled straight from an Indiana Jones movie. It is a series of sculptures representing each of the twenty-eight generations of kings of Judah.

If you are ever fortunate enough to visit Notre Dame, take a few minutes to enjoy the splendor of the exterior before fighting the masses for a look inside.

This photograph was captured with a Nikon D90 and that terrible "masses" pun was entirely unintentional so I'm leaving it in.
