Bass Lake is just outside of Blowing Rock in the North Carolina High Country. There's a great hiking and running trail around the lake and right in the middle is this mysterious little island. I just had to check it out so I launched the drone to get a better view. I love the way the grayness of the water and lack of depth outside the island really plays with the scale of the photo.

5506' Skybar is the highest taproom east of the Rocky Mountains. We joined our good friends, the Nunns, at the top of the mountain just as the dark clouds parted and the sun started shining on us like a spotlight. I knew I had to get the drone up for a better angle. You can still see the sheets of rain in the next mountain range over and the sunbeams on our range, working their way through the thick clouds.
