Two Years of #PhotoJambo

On October 16, 2015, I challenged myself to post a new photo every day for a year. Today marks two years of daily #PhotoJambo photos.

Today also marks a new beginning for PhotoJambo. Rather than focus on the method of creating and sharing something new every day, I'm going to take more time between posts so I can get those edits perfect and create more feature-based work.

Plotagraph: A Ray of Light at 5506' Skybar

Perched high atop Beech Mountain in North Carolina, 5506' Skybar is the highest taproom east of the Rocky Mountains.

This photo was captured with a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone and then converted to a Plotagraph. 

Water Stairs

This is one of hundreds of waterfalls hidden throughout Beech Mountain. In most places, hikes end with a waterfall but they're so abundant on Beech Mountain that several start with one, too. That's the case here. There's even a picnic table at the base of the pond for a little lunch before you set off into the forest.

Ski Village Sunrise

Today is the last day of the summer season at Beech Mountain Resort. Everything closes tomorrow and preparations begin for ski season. We're looking forward to seeing everyone again in November!

360° Sunrise on Beech Mountain

Just another beautiful morning on Beech Mountain! One of my favorite features of the DJI Mavic Pro is that you can rotate the camera into portrait mode while it is in flight and then shoot super high resolution panoramas. This photo captures exactly 360° to the pixel.

Buckeye Recreation Center

It's easy to forget just how far drones have come in the last few years. This photograph was captured with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black that was attached to a DJI Phantom 2 drone. It's a bit grainy and the sky is definitely blown out but it's a good reminder of the beginning of fall, which is just around the corner up on Beech Mountain. 

This is the Buckeye Recreation Center and Buckeye Lake, which is the recreational hub for Beech Mountain. It has the most amazing playground, made by hand out of giant logs and natural rope. There is also a really fun hike called "Falls Loop Trail" that starts off deep in the forest until you come upon a nice waterfall and then follow the creek that feeds it back up to Buckeye Lake.

Mountains for Miles
