Here's another view of the Wild Dunes Boardwalk pool that I featured a few days ago. This time with a little more context. It seems a fitting farewell to summer as we enter into Labor Day weekend.

I've experimented with Plotagraphs for a while now but this is the first one that has made it to my blog. This is the south pool at the Wild Dunes Boardwalk Pavilion. It was still early in the morning and the water was calm, leaving tranquil reflections on the bottom of the pool.

We spent last week at one of my favorite places in the world, Wild Dunes. The pool pictured here, Palm Cove, was one of five pools within a five-minute stroll from our condo. It's also the most unique, with a natural, beach-like zero-entry grade on one end. It makes it great for families with little ones who aren't swimming yet. Now that our kids have morphed into fish, we spent a little less time at Palm Cove than we have in the past as we explored the other pools and ocean.

Nothing says summer to me like the Boardwalk pool deck at Wild Dunes. The sandy colors of the deck and the rainbow of pastels from the Charleston single homes lining the boardwalk are the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day at the pool.

One of the best things about El Dorado Casitas Royale is that even though it is undeniably a mega resort, each of the pods of casitas have their own pool and beach area, making the experience far more intimate.
If you want to play pool volleyball with 200 of your closest — and loudest — friends, you can always wander down to the main pools but if you just want some quiet time with a few friends at a swim-up bar, there's a stool with your name on it just down the stairs from your room.

El Dorado Royale is a magnificent resort on Mexico's Riviera Maya, near Playa del Carmen. We spent a short week relaxing by the Caribbean and poolside with friends who were visiting for the wedding of two of our good friends. It's just as beautiful as it looks!

We spend a beach week at Wild Dunes each summer and nearly always stay in one of several condos at The Village. There's a nice continuity to the trip each year that makes it really easy to quickly slip into relaxation mode. There are a handful of pools within a five-minute walk from The Village and one of our favorites, Palm Cove, is right in The Village.
