Seoul Food

Charlotte, North Carolina
May 02, 2017 by Matt Spangard

As soon as the signs went up at Seoul Food, I knew I was going to love it. I have no idea how it took me a year to finally make the pilgrimage but it was worth the wait!

Not only is the food great but the giant patio is perfect on a sunny day. Along with soccer pool tables (or football snooker tables, depending on your disposition), they have three distinct Karaoke rooms that you can rent out for private parties, each with it's own theme. I need to head back some night and photograph the rooms in action. If you've got a crazy night planned there soon, let me know!

Fleet Landing and the Custom House

Charleston, South Carolina
October 18, 2016 by Matt Spangard

There's a reason Fleet Landing is always packed with both tourists and locals on any given day. The haute-design, yet no-frills decor, wide open spaces and view of the harbor from any seat in the house make it clear that 1) you are in a decommissioned Navy building and 2) you will be enjoying delicious seafood and most likely an adult beverage or two.

Order the crab dip to get things started.

Edgar Allen Poe

Sullivan's Island, South Carolina
July 26, 2016 by Matt Spangard

Poe's Tavern is one of the most unique beach bars I've ever been to... and I go there every chance I get! The entire restaurant is dedicated to Edgar Allen Poe, who was stationed on Sullivan's Island at Fort Moultrie in 1827. In fact, Poe wrote many of his famous works on Sullivan's Island. This haunting masterpiece sits above the fireplace as if Poe's ghost is emerging from the smoke.
