There's nothing like stepping out of an air-conditioned airport in the tropics into a humid wall of heat. It hits you at once that you're not in Kansas anymore and that you've just begun an adventure.
Cancún International helps you get the trip started on the right foot by installing a bar ten feet from the exit to the airport. Yes, I know you can buy cheaper beer from just about anybody else, including the guy with the metal cart, the shuttle driver or the unofficial taxi driver but if you want a beer within 30 seconds of stepping foot outside in Cancún, the outdoor airport bar is the way to go. And it's our arrival tradition.
We could have stayed in the Nomad Lounge all day. The only thing better than the peaceful, African-themed atmosphere was the food. Now that Avatar is open, it's probably not quite the secret it used to be but if you need a place to relax and enjoy a terrific lunch, check out the Nomad Lounge.

It's the weekend! If you live in Charlotte, do yourself a favor and check out Blue Blaze Brewing for some of the best beer you've ever had. Blue Blaze is located in West Charlotte, about three minutes from Pinky's. Lots of free parking and fantastic beer! It's a great way to start the weekend.

There is no better way to relax than to sit back with an Estrella Damm or Voll Damm in a square in Barcelona. I'd suggest Plaça del Rei or Plaça del Sol — the tourist books and pickpockets can keep the world-famous Plaça Reial.

It's Halloween weekend! Even though we're still consistently hitting high temps in the 80s, it is cooling off to the 50s in the evenings. That's perfect weather for a pint of your favorite beer and some time around a campfire.

We went to the Greek festival in Charlotte this weekend and I finally found a Greek beer that wasn't too bad! I'm not sure if I'll ever see Fix again but I'll be keeping an eye out for it the next time I'm in a greek restaurant. So long Mythos! Actually, never mind. I just learned that Fix was sold to Carlsberg (Mythos' owner) in 2014. Maybe that means we'll start seeing Fix served up alongside Mythos at our favorite Greek restaurants!
