The High Road
There's one major paved road that loops around Beech Mountain. Most of the other roads are gravel or dirt and they branch off from the loop road, often leading higher and higher until they disappear into a mountain meadow or brook. If you have a capable off-road vehicle, exploring the unpaved trails is one of the best ways to spend a day that I can think of.

Triple Aught Design Adventure
Triple Aught Design makes some of the best gear out there. I'm definitely a TAD Junkie... and I belong to the Facebook group to prove it. I took this photo last weekend as I was loading the Jeep to head back to Charlotte from Beech Mountain. Pictured here: camera pack (Azimuth), ski pack (Lightspeed) and suitcase (Meridian).

BFG JKU AEV Brute
BF Goodrich built a great offroad track at Overland Expo to prove the meddle of their BFG tires. They also had some interesting vehicles available to run on the track, including this stunning Jeep JKU AEV Brute and a right-hand drive, manual transmission Land Rover Defender 110.

USAF Jeep
This well-restored Willys USAF Jeep is on display at the Aviation Museum at Robins Air Force Base in Warner-Robins, Georgia. You usually see original Jeeps in their matte Army Olive Drab color but this one looked striking in a glossy USAF blue.

Blue Ridge Parkway TAD Jeep
Triple Aught Design and Jeep go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
The first thing I did when I bought my Jeep was remove all of the stickers and replace them with some TAD vinyl. Most people have no idea what it is and I often see people trying to figure it out. But those in the know, know what time it is. Like Jeep, TAD is about freedom, adventure and great gear. Just like this beautiful day on the Parkway.
