The Mile High Kite Festival is held every Labor Day weekend on Beech Mountain. It's a fun time for kids of all ages. Several professional kite fliers bring in some pretty amazing car-sized kites but the stars of the show are these little airfoil kites that are given out to everybody. This isn't a festival to watch... it's one to participate in!

Four year-old Annika climbs at Inner Peaks. This was her first visit to a climbing gym and she clicked in to her harness and took off, straight for the top. Experienced climbers commented that she skipped the painstaking process of planning a path and just did it. Girl Power!
