Providence Road
After a long day of relaxing at home on Christmas this year, we ventured out for some fresh air. There's a little park and playground on Providence Road, just outside of the city that we always drive past so we thought we'd check it out. It turned out to be great and all of the people from the neighborhood who were out taking post-Christmas day strolls couldn't have been more friendly.
If you're not from Charlotte, Providence Road winds it's way through South Charlotte, ultimately leading you right to the center of the city. Locals know it as the street that changes names and directions at a drop of a hat. If you tell a friend to meet you at Providence and Providence, Queens and Queens, they'll know exactly what you're talking about. It's the intersection where Providence and Queens meet, each deflecting off the other with a 90-degree turn.

Stroll Through Bruxelles
Brussels — or Bruxelles — is highly underrated as a tourist destination. The compact core of the old city is very walkable and it's easy to keep your bearings as the tower on the main square — or Grand Place — is almost always visible, peaking out over nearby buildings.
On your visit to Brussels, you'll find Trappist beer, chocolate, french fries and waffles around every turn. A lot of good stuff comes from Brussels!
For military buffs, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces is pretty amazing. If you're from America, you'll see a lot of military vehicles that you've likely only seen in the movies, such as a Russian Hind Helicopter or an assortment of MIGs. They even have one of those funny-looking German tanks from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Brussels may not be a destination city on your bucket list but it's a great central starting point for any European vacation. Spend 2-3 nights in Brussels before heading off to France, Holland, Germany or England and you won't be disappointed!

Charlotte Crossroads
This is the intersection of Camden and S. Tryon in South End. It's amazing how this area has grown since we first moved to South End in 1999. It'll be sad to see the block of buildings in the middle — former home to the beloved Common Market — when they get torn down but I guess that's the price of progress.

Tampa has a really great riverwalk snaking around downtown. It's not very built up yet but you can tell it's on its way!

Tampa Bay
Bayshore Drive — seen here along the water — is a beautiful waterfront road. With the bay on one side and grand, historic homes on the other, it's a really nice place to be. The city in the distance is downtown Tampa.

Awake in Tampa
I took over 2,000 photographs last week all over Florida. I've already thrown away 75% of them but I'm hoping by the time I've posted them all, I'll have some sort of sponsorship from the Florida Tourism Council — or at least a skeleton key to the Magic Kingdom!
I've been to Tampa well over a dozen times throughout the years but our friends just moved to a great neighborhood downtown so this was the first trip I've ever actually ventured out downtown after dark. It's a really stunning city and a lot of fun!

Night in the Queen City
My office in Third Ward has one of the best views of the city. It only gets better a couple hundred feet up. I was working late and noticed a purple glow emanating from the city like a science fiction movie. I took a quick break from my commute home to send the drone up for a couple of shots.
