Sullivan's Island, just outside of Charleston, is one of my favorite places in the world. In this photograph, you can see the fire station, the light house and even Fort Sumter if you know where to look. I love the American flags blowing proudly in the wind.

We spent last weekend on Beech Mountain. At 5506', Beech Mountain is the highest town east of the Rockies. The views, weather and wildlife were spectacular, as always. The resort is officially open for the summer now through labor day with mountain biking, hiking, disc golf and the famous 5506' Skybar mountaintop pub & brewery.

Diagon Alley at Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter is so awesome! I just wish you could go into even more of the stores. Just look at all of the possibilities — I'd pay good money for an invisibility cloak!

I like that Disney placed the always-serious Cogsworth topiary in front of a wine bar at Epcot's France World Showcase. It certainly seems to have done the trick, too. He looks extremely happy and perhaps a little too relaxed for the butler who is responsible for keeping everything running to the Beast's liking back home at the castle. I guess even a magically-cursed talking clock needs to go out on the town for a little rest and relaxation from time-to-time.

I embraced my inner "Social Network" and tried my hand at a little tilt-shift crew shot. It was a beautiful afternoon and the sun was just starting to go down. You can see the reflection of the famed "Beer Can" building in the water behind the boat.
Who is going to the beach this weekend? I took this aerial photograph of Figure Eight Island on a brisk January day a few months ago and we were just about the only people on the island. I guess this qualifies as a selfie — I'm on the back deck of the house directly behind the little marsh beach on the second row.
I imagine Figure Eight Island is going to be a really fun place to be this weekend as everybody jets out to the coast for some R&R!

A week ago today, my wife and I took our first cruise to celebrate our anniversary. We sailed from Charleston to Nassau and back over the course of five days. I have to admit, my expectations were really low based on horror stories I have heard from others but we really enjoyed it.
Our room was on the stern, right in the center of the ship. The room was far from tiny and we had a huge private outdoor terrace/balcony with a tremendous view of the ship's wake as we sailed along. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the balcony, watching the wake as the water changed color from dark green in Charleston harbor to deep blue in the Atlantic to blue-green in the Caribbean.

This photograph is part of an architectural series at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. The painstaking effort that must have gone into making each of these buildings perfectly imperfect — both inside and out — is really astounding. Hats off to the engineers at Universal Studios!
