Mountains for Miles
In keeping with my post from yesterday, here's a mid-afternoon drone photo from the mountains. If you haven't watched the short film that I submitted to the 2017 Triple Aught Design Fall Film Festival yesterday, you can check it out here... and don't forget to vote (please!).
This photograph was captured with a DJI Mavic pro drone.
Film — The Emerald Outback of Oz
I have entered this film in the 2017 Triple Aught Design Film Festival. I get nearly all of my outdoor gear from Triple Aught Design so I'm honored that they have accepted my entry.
Please help support my entry by voting for my short film at Triple Aught Design. It takes five seconds.

Want the backstory on the film? Here you go!
At 5,506 feet, Beech Mountain is the highest town east of the Rockies. The group of hiking trails near the peak of the mountain are named the "Emerald Outback." They are named in honor of the former Land of Oz theme park that flourished nearby before a series of disasters forced the park to shut down in 1980. The Emerald Outback is known for large stands of beech trees and wildlife around every corner. Within five minutes on the trails, you'll see evidence of deer, bear and coyote and you're likely to run into at least one of them if you spend a few hours on the mountain. Join me on an adventure to the top!
This film was created a DJI Mavic Pro drone, a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone, a Sony a6300 and a GoPro Hero 4+ Black.
Building Sandcastles
This summer, the sand bar in front of the infamous Breach Inlet stretched for hundreds of yards out into the ocean during low tide, nearly connecting Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. We spent a couple of hours walking out on the bar and exploring the hundreds of tidal pools left behind by the receding water. We celebrated our successful expedition with a little sandcastle building when we got back to the Isle of Palms beach.

Roundhouses on Ski Loft Road
Beech Mountain is known for it's unique roundhouses. These are sitting on curvy Ski Loft Road, which snakes along one of Beech Mountain Resort's ski slopes. The house in the middle with the unstained wooden deck belongs to a friend and former guest or ours at Slopeside. He and his family visited Beech Mountain and fell in love with it just as we did and quickly became part-time residents of the highest mountain town east of the rockies.

Smooth Waves
Summer Fridays leave me dreaming of the ocean... at least when I'm not actually playing in it.

Beech Mountain Alarm Clock
This was my alarm clock yesterday on Beech Mountain. The mile-high sunrises are spectacular up on the mountain. It pays to be the highest town east of the Rockies, as the fog rolls through all of the valleys below.

Churning Sea
I'm fascinated by the man-made breakwaters that protect the beaches of El Dorado Royale. They form a natural reef just off the beach and they calm the waters dramatically.
For a better view of the beach at El Dorado Royale, check out the video I made from our last trip down to their Casitas:
Both today's photograph and this video were captured with a DJI Mavic Pro drone.
